Dyson 36 Flexi Crevice Tool Review

Dyson 36 Flexi Crevice Tool
Average Reviews:

I originally was only intending to get the flexi crevice tool. Luckily, I bought some others, too, that ended up being worth the whole experience. The problems with this tool are 2-fold. First, it's not nearly as flexible as I need as it doesn't actually bend but is only just not completely stiff. Second, the bristle end quickly gets clogged with dog hair and dust, so that I have to keep clearing it. With as many dogs as we do and a continual battle with black widow spiders (the messiest webs around), I'm still depending heavily on the regular crevice tool and then going back over with flexi crevice tool when cleaning under and behind appliances. But difficult angles, such as a semi-flush ceiling lamp, still elude me without getting all the way up on a ladder.

Dyson Soft Dusting Brush Review

Dyson Soft Dusting Brush
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
How it works -
The attachment is around a foot long (including bristles); it is a lint remover brush-head surrounded by soft plastic bristles. The red area is the lint remover (think of the dog hair removal brushes your mom uses); it has two suction holes - one at the head, one at the base - which allow the swept dust to be sucked into the vacuum while running. When both holes are covered (such as when doing a large, flat surface) the suction is as powerful as any of the other Dyson wand attachments. When only one hole is covered or there is a break in the surface between the two holes (smaller surfaces or blinds) the suction is still strong, but not quite as "vice-like." The idea behind the brush is that the vacuum action will suck in all the dust instead of allowing it to escape into the air. In this regard, the Dyson seems to leave a much smaller "dust footprint" than manual dusters because it does not cause dust clouds. As with all Dyson wand attachments, the dusting brush comes with two adapters which plug straight into the wand which allow it to be used with any type of Dyson vacuum.
Pros and Cons -
I bought the dusting attachment because the brush heads that came with the DC17 weren't cutting it for what I needed. They were either too small or did not form a tight enough seal around the areas I was dusting to pick up all the dust and debris. I live in an old house with old fashion plaster walls and with three furry dogs, so there is constantly dust in the house.
The Dusting Brush is very good for handling things like blinds and large, flat surfaces, but not quite as well in the little hard to reach spots or thin areas. So the brush will get all the dust on the entertainment center, floor-standing speakers, coffee table, etc, however the rear speaker stand, some furniture molding, tight corners - will all require touch-up even after vacuuming. You can pretty much forget dusting behind furniture or in awkward places. Even if you're able to get the brush to fit, chances are you won't form a tight enough seal around the object you're trying to dust for the vacuum action to work. You're still better off using a crevice tool - or no attachment at all.
Also, I purchased this attachment specifically because of the picture of the brush taking the dust off of the TV. The hard surfaces of the dusting brush are prevented from touching your wares only by way of padding. In other words, the suction holes (which are ringed by plastic) are only kept apart from the surface by the padding within the red lint dusting material. If your Dyson "really sucks" (sorry, couldn't think of another way to put it), you may be like me and get nervous about putting this attachment near anything that scratches easily. This brush would be fine for CRT tube TVs or even LCDs, but I think I'm still going to wipe down my plasma manually with a soft rag.
Reading what I've written so far, my review sounds very negative, but I don't want to leave you with that impression. The dusting brush is extremely useful and I would go so far as to say that I hope that Dyson would consider including it as a standard attachment in their future vacuums. However I think most people who look at the Dyson attachments already know what the attachments *can do*, and want to know about what they *can't do*. I do not regret my purchase, and I would definitely make it again because I do use the heck out of the brush, but I'm not using it for the same reasons I had mentally in my head when I purchased it.

I bought the dyson dc24 all floors vacuum factory serviced at abc Vacuum Warehouse. The item was shipped same day I ordered it and arrived on time. The vacuum is just about new and comes with a six month warrenty from Dyson and 21/2 years from Abc Vacuum warehouse. The appliance runs well the only thing is that the cord is too short and you will probably need an extension. all in all I am a satisfied customer.

Dyson Asthma and Allergy Kit, 916130-05 Review

Dyson Asthma and Allergy Kit, 916130-05
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this because I really wanted more attachments than those that came with our Dyson (which, as an allergic asthmatic with cats, I love). The mattress attachment and dust brush are the most useful to me. I vac. mattresses at least once a week and have a huge selection of bookcases that quickly become dusty. I've used the narrow wand for getting lint out of the clothes dryer. It really doesn't work well for much anything else. What is really missing from Dyson is a longer hose. This collection would be so much better with that omission corrected.

Dust and allergens sometimes remain floating around your home, even after a good, thorough cleaning. The Dyson Asthma and Allergy Kit includes tools that attach to your Dyson vacuum cleaner that will help eliminate allergens. A soft dusting brush directs powerful Dyson suction through soft bristles to gently dust delicate surfaces. Great for blinds and keyboards. The mattress tool attaches to the hose or want to remove dust and dirt from mattresses and upholstery. And the Flexi crevice tool extends and flexes to clean gaps in furniture and corners on floors. Kit fits all Dyson upright, canister, and handheld vacuums. 1-year limited warranty.

Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum Review

Dyson DC23 TurbineHead Canister Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Despite the fact that the Dysons have never been a top pick on Consumer Reports (even though they consistently rate high for brand reliability), I went ahead and purchased the DC23 Turbinehead from Target for $399.
As people often find when purchasing a new vacuum, they pick up a lot of dust and dirt in the carpet that their old vacuum left behind. Mainly because most older vacuums just lose suction even if you replace the filters and maintain all the parts. I find that to be frustrating and disappointing, and that's mainly one of the reasons that I went with the Dyson -- I'm hoping it lives up to their tagline (Never Loses Suction).
The suction on the DC23 is good. The turbine head attachment spins quickly and pulls in cat litter and other little particles in the carpet. I was revolted by the giant thick dust ball I picked up in just one bedroom with the first use. The DC23 does it's job well. So here's the run down of what I like and don't like about this model:
Likes
-Excellent suction, vacuums well. Easily picks up all the cat hair and cat litter I throw at it.
-Small, light weight and portable
-Beautifully designed -- it's shocking to look at this model next to all the Hoovers, Dirt Devils, and Bissells of the world that look like something straight out of the 80's. Also glad they are moving away from the yellow plastic!
-Easy to empty dust bin, no bags
-Because of the small head, this vacuum can go where most uprights cannot -- under beds and tables.
Dislikes
-It's a little expensive, however, will be well worth it if it actually lasts a long time without losing suction
-Storage is a little flimsy -- the hose just sort of hangs out off of the vacuum and the head attachment very loosely attaches to the canister base.

Delivering 220 airwatts of suction power, this canister vacuum cleaner features advanced Level 3 Root Cyclone technology to ensure thorough, efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction. It also offers a TurbineHead brush bar that's ideal for cleaning medium and short pile carpets and can be turned off for hard floors. Certified asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, the unit expels air that contains up to 150 times less mold and bacteria than common breathing air thanks to the vacuum's money-saving, lifetime washable HEPA filter. Plus, Dyson's Bactisafe screen traps and kills bacteria, mold and allergens on contact, preventing them from re-entering the air.
The Telescopic Wrap System allows the hose and wand to be compressed, and ensures that the Dyson DC23 can be stored away neatly and compactly, with no loose components or wires to get tangled. It comes with a stair tool for focusing on dust and dirt from stairs and stair carpets, a brush tool with long bristles to dislodge cobwebs and for delicate cleaning, and a high-velocity airflow crevice tool that's ideal for cleaning base boards, picture frames and in-between furniture. Other features include a clear bin with 0.44-gallon capacity, 21.6-foot cord length, and easy-to-maneuver fixed wheels. The vacuum measures 13.9 x 19.3 x 11.9 inches (HxWxD) and weighs 19.5 pounds. The Dyson DC23 TurbineHead is backed by a 5-year warranty.

Dyson DC33 Multi floor Review

Dyson DC33 Multi floor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have tried both of these, and have come to the conclusion that the DC33 is superior. Here's why:
-The suction and brush bar are clearly more powerful. This is what sold me. I can see the difference in carpet lines (medium pile carpet) when I use one or the other.
-35ft cord is a significant benefit over the 25ft cord. I can almost do the entire floor by just plugging in a single outlet. Two would cover the whole house. With the DC25, I had to constantly unplug and replug.
-Larger dustbin means I can keep vacuuming for longer without emptying. Also, the design on this one seems to keep the shroud (the perforated shield inside the canister) freer of stuck-on dust.
-Quieter
-Although a bit larger, it is a similar weight to the DC25.
-Critical sections can be easily taken apart to clear blockages.
-The DC25 has a tiny plastic piece that keeps the vacuum from tipping over in upright mode due to the ball mechanism. If I tilt the vacuum to the side while it is close to being upright, I can hear a loud snap as the plastic piece is forced into a position where it shouldn't be. I can see this breaking really soon.
There are some shortcomings:
-The wand is a clear cost cutting measure. It is plastic rather than aluminum. Also, the handle is missing (present in the DC25) a contoured plastic piece that makes it much more ergonomic to hold when using the wand. It also requires an extra button to release AND another button to retract the wand. Lastly, when you release the wand from the hose, there is just a bare hose, rather than a similar cuff as the one at the end of the wand with a release button as on the DC25. It is still usable, but not as nice. It just adds to the already cumbersome wand system on the Dysons.
-The DC33 switches suction to the wand when in upright position whereas the DC25 switches it when the wand is drawn. A minor annoyance, especially if you're wearing a long sleeved shirt; it may get sucked in when you hold the handle.
-No ball, but to me the difference in maneuverability is negligible.
Update 3/4/2011: I have used this vacuum for a few months now. I returned the DC25 and do not miss it at all. The DC33 continues to perform admirably. True to Dyson's claim, the suction is as good as new. I've washed the filters once and the process was simple, much simpler than going to the store and buying filter bags. Vacuuming is a pleasure, due to getting the instant gratification of seeing the the dust collect in the bin, and the clean exhaust. It's probably subconscious, but as a sufferer of seasonal allergies and constant nasal congestion, I feel like I can breathe better when I vacuum.
The only pain has been removing hair from the brush bar. It doesn't pop off like like the DC25, so removing hair can be a cumbersome process.

Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the DC 24 to replace a small vacuum and was my first Dyson purchase (though I have used them regularly in the past). I would not recommend this vacuum to replace a dedicated large upright. Dyson uses "airwatts" to specify the power of the vacuums and the DC 24 has 115 airwatts vs. 220 airwatts for the DC 25 and DC 15. Not knowing how many airwatts other vacuums use, I can only guess similar comparisons to other brands.
=================
What to Like
=================
The DC 24 vacuum is lightweight 11.5lbs (DC25 16.1lbs and DC15 19.95lbs) and can go up and down stairs without problems (3 story condo). In fact, instead of using the hose attachment for the stairs I prefer to use the vacuum itself. It has a nicely placed handle in the front for this function (like a weed trimmer). You have to hold it out away from your body, as the brushes don't spin if the unit is placed upright.
Despite being lightweight and lower power, it has consistent suction and still get's a lot of dirt and dog hair out of the carpet.
The "Ball" allows the vacuum to access small, hard to reach areas without using the attachment. It is similar to using a swivel head on a mop. It handles my hardwood floors well, and now has replaced my sweeper.
The no-mess canister, easy to dump out with just a push of a button.
The washable hepa filter. This is one reason I do not have a problem with paying more for a Dyson. Effective heppa filtration requires regular replacement and that adds up in extra dollars. The dyson solves that with an easy clean filter.
5 year warranty. You will probably experience a disconcerting feeling when it's out of the box and it seems like flimsy construction. I usually destroy vacuums and so far this vacuum has held up well. I think the flimsy feeling comes from it's flexibility, the adjustment points and the ball. Trust me, I have dropped it a few times down a flight of stairs on the hardwood and it still looks and works as good a new.
Compact storage... that goes hand in hand with light weight, but it also telescopes down in height to fit under shelves for storage.
Coolest Dyson feature for me is the no-tool brushbar access/removal. Makes it very easy to remove obstructions from the brushbar without a tool set.
=================
What not to Like
=================
The attachment is difficult to convert, this is not unique to this Dyson model. Some cleaver engineer came up with a way to make this attachment compact and self contained, but impossible to convert the first 10-15 times you use it. Dyson does have more expensive models that have easier to use attachments. After using their products for awhile, I have become a Dyson attachment Jedi Master.
The hose for the attachments is short. It can't reach my 10' ceilings without lifting the base up off the floor. I recommend the Dyson's flexible attachment for dust and/or cobwebs.
=================
Other Notes
=================
The vacuum has trouble with large items (clumps of dog toy stuffing) that big vacuums normally don't hiccup on. It either doesn't have the brush head height or the plumbing for large items. It's not really a negative for me, as I learned early on to pick up big items that might destroy a perfectly working vacuum motor. I didn't have the same problem with using only the attachment.

Equipped with Dyson Ball technology, this upright vacuum cleaner sits on a ball for easy twisting and turning around furniture and obstacles--no more missed angles or tiresome back-and-forth vacuuming. The ball also encapsulates the machine's 6-1/2 amp motor, creating a low center of gravity for even easier maneuverability. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to separate dirt from the air by centrifugal force, which ensures efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction. Dyson proves no loss of suction using the IEC 60312 Cl 2.9 test standard. Effective for use on all floor types, the unit's motorized brushbar can be turned on to remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, or turned off to protect delicate rugs and floors. It also supplies a reversible wand for extended reach when cleaning stairs, drapes, upholstery, and more.
For cleaner expelled air, the unit comes with a washable lifetime HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria. In fact, the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The unit's hygienic 1/5-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--just press the button and dust empties from the bottom; the clear polycarbonate bin also allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it needs to be emptied. Other highlights include fingertip controls, a constant suction power of 115 air watts, a 20-foot cord, a maximum reach of 28-5/7 feet, and a combination accessory tool (nozzle converts to a brush tool for dusting). Even more, its handle collapses for storage in a closet. Weighing just 11-2/3 pounds, the ultra-lightweight and compact vacuum cleaner measures 13-2/3 by 11 by 43-2/7 inches and carries a five-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Dyson DC28 Animal Review

Dyson DC28 Animal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't know exactly where to start. I've owned a Sears, a Hoover, and an Electrolux (sadly, Electrolux isn't what is used to be). I researched and read reviews on at least 100 vacuums, watched unbiased youtube reviews, and talked to sales associates. After several months, I narrowed it down to the Dyson DC28 and the Miele Titan. I won't waste your time talking about WHY I chose the DC28 over the Miele Titan, but if you would like me to elaborate, please leave me a comment and I will promptly respond.
As far as the DC28 goes, it truly does have incredible suction! We have a longhaired Australian shepherd who sheds hairs sometimes a foot-long, and we regularly have guests, and I admit I'm a clean freak and I vacuum once a day. Yet, with all that daily vacuuming, I was missing SO MUCH, it sickens me. I vacuumed my whole house right before I vacuumed with my DC28, and I filled the canister past maximum capacity, then halfway full again the next day. It's amazing all the dirt and dander and tiny particles that this vacuum kicked up, it was like a fine powder(see my photos above for proof). I also cleaned 1 level of my girlfriend's house, who has a Samoyed, and we filled the canister 5 times on a once over and emptied maybe 2 pounds of hair, dirt, dander and tiny particles (she uses an Oreck XL pro plus I believe). Despite other reviews, this vacuum is not difficult to maneuver; the incredible airmuscle technology suction that this machine has DOES make it *different* to maneuver at first, but I got used to it after a half hour. The machine is stiff at first but if you buy something new, that's very common (mine loosened up after a few days).
The 4 height options are bare floor (lowest/no beater brush), low-pile, medium pile, and high pile. I have medium carpet and use it on the low pile setting to really get that beater brush down in the carpet! My carpets look freshly shampooed everyday. You can feel the suction power in your hand, like using a shopvac in the garage-you know you're getting it all! This machine also has a huge 35 foot power cord that is soft and easy to wrap up on the back of the vacuum, with a strong clip to secure the cord. For floor cleaning of any kind, it's superb. As far as the tools go, it comes with four which I will go over. The MINI TURBINE HEAD(retail 70 bucks separate) works great for cleaning the mattresses, cloth bean bags (lovesac/cordaroys), cloth furniture, small hard to reach spots between furniture, and stair cleaning (attaches to the pop out handle connected to the 17 foot vac hose-perfect for cleaning the whole staircase without moving the machine). Second, it comes with the FLAT-OUT TOOL(retails 50 bucks separate) and this is great for vacuuming under tables, chair legs, and under furniture when attached to the pop out wand. It also comes with a CREVICE TOOL which is a combo STIFF BRUSH TOOL, as well as a soft, wide angled tool with soft fuzz on the bottom to carefully clean delicate surfaces or furniture. The HEPA filter is easy to wash, just rinse it out every 3 months, let it dry for a day then pop it back in and keep cleaning!
I hope this review is helpful to someone and don't forget to look at the product images I posted above. I know the review is lengthy, but I wish I would have had a detailed review like this to guide me while considering spending 600 bucks on a vacuum cleaner, but it really is worth it. I use it everyday and I'd be happy to answer any questions/comments anyone has about my experience with this vacuum, or the vacuum itself. Thanks for reading!

Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

We were going to buy the DC07, but decided the DC25 was worth the upgrade....boy, were we right!!!
The main clencher is the ease of using the attachment tools, with the DC25, you just extend the telescoping pole, and, voila! you're ready to go!{the DC07 requires plugging/unplugging to use the attachment tools} I found myself attacking every corner and groove with specks of dirt/cobwebs in it (LOVE this thing for cleaning the ac intake grates and the fins of our air filters!)...most of them without ever having to bend over.
Of course there is the fantastic suction, but then, you expect that from Dyson's reputation...it was disgusting what it got out of our carpet (we have no pets, no kids, and don't wear shoes in the house; I vacuum very regularly, anyways) the first time.
If you don't think you'll use the attachment/tools much, the cheaper models might work for you, but if you appreciate being able to easily attack the tiny corners and grooves no upright can fit into, you're probably dreaming of this model.
The "Ball" feature makes turning and getting into weird corners a breeze, although it may take some people a while to get used to; I've been using a swivel-head mop for years, so I'm used to the motion.
FYI, if you get those 20% off coupons from a certain store that sells stuff for Beds, Baths and, well, you know, that last "B"..you can try all the Dyson vacuums in the store, purchase your Dyson from them with a coupon (saving you $100 on this model!), not pay for shipping, and have the ease of returning/exchanging at a local store if you should have a problem.

Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned just about every top rated vacuum that has been made. I was never satisfied, mostly because they where too heavy to handle, or the animal hair was blown about, rather than sucked up. I do have a canister vacuum that I have had for years, but I wanted a satisfactory upright that was light and easy to handle. I have a cat and a dog, and there is lots of shedding hair, all the time. Our house is mostly hard floors, stairs, and one large rug in the living room. When I saw the DC25 Animal, I decided to spend the money hoping that this vacuum would do the job. It has lived up to my wildest dreams, it is wonderfully easy to handle, so easy to maneuver, the 16 lbs make such a difference compared to those very heavy machines I had before, I had no problem carrying it upstairs. I love that with this vacuum I don't need to select different heights, it goes from floor to carpet to floor. I was even able to clean the dogs bed without the wand attachment. Speaking of the wand/handle attachment you simply flip open the top cap, pull up on the wand, and it disconnects from the vacuum and suction diverts to the wand. It took a little getting use to, the hose is a little stiff and took a while before I was comfortable cleaning the stairs. Most important, THIS VACUUM SUCKS, but in a good way!!
Assembly was fairly easy, suppose to be 3 snaps with no tools. But I had a heck of a time getting it out of the box, and being not mechanically inclined I would have liked better instructions.
I have never reviewed a product before, but this vacuum cleaner has me so excited that I had to share it with someone. I really love this machine!
