Tangerine Kenmore Canister Vacuum Review

Tangerine Kenmore Canister Vacuum
Average Reviews:

I love this vac and I'm happy I bought it. I thought about buying an upright, but then decided I wanted the flexibility of a canister. I wanted to be able to vacuum my blinds, my furniture, my ceiling fan blades, etc. Having a 7' long hose makes that possible. What's impressive is that this vac has a 12 amp motor, much more powerful that my previous vac. When I turned it on, and then turned on the power head, things started to happen. All the little icky things that were on my carpet (pieces of lint, thread, glitter, sequins, etc.) those things were immediately picked up by this vacuum on the first pass. With my old vac, I got tired of vacuuming in the same place over and over again just to pick up lint from a pair of socks. This one grabs it and asks for more! I'm amazed at how quiet this unit is. Best of all, after I was done vacuuming, my granddaughter looked around and said, "Oh Nana! It looks like you have brand new carpet!"

I have owned the Electrolux version of this "clone" model 15XP for nearly 15 years and this new ProTeam ProCare model appears to be the same excellent heavy duty design, except it has a HEPA exhaust filter and very useful updated tools mounting. This new 15XP model has very high suction and very aggressive powered brush. I hope it lasts as long as the old Electrolux which is still in service.

SEBO 9807AM Felix Onyx Upright Vacuum Cleaner 12" Cleaning Path Review

SEBO 9807AM Felix Onyx Upright Vacuum Cleaner 12 Cleaning Path
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the best vacuum we have ever owned. we are on year 3 with it and it is amazing. so you understand before this vac we went trough 5 vacs in a 3 year period. 1 dirt devil, 1 roomba, 1 Dyson, 2 Eureka.
The dirt devil just didn't perform, lost suction all the time and ate belts like a sumo wrestler at a buffet.
The roomba was great for touch ups, but on cleaning days it just was no good. if we would have gotten one with a built in timer maybe it would have been better but we usually forgot to turn it on wen we left the house in the morning. plus the collection container was small, and no filtration.
The Dyson was just crap, worked for about 6 months before we sold it on craigslist, it does loose suction unlike the commercial claim. the bag less thing is total crap, and for the price i was just pissed off about that purchase.
The two Eureka "The Boss" vacs were the best value. each one only lasted about a year and the suction was decent but it had lots of con. mainly that it did loose suction, it ended up eating belts toward the end, and both had a burning smell to them. The biggest issue was how big heavy and bulky it was, not easily maneuverable. By the time the second one started showing symptoms of dying we started our search.
We found the Sebo Felix and it just blew all the other vacs out of the water. The only other vac we considered was a melie, but its problem was the collection container was tiny and it didn't have as much suction.
Sebo Felix Pro:
Small and maneuverable- excellent with the pivoting head. it is also light and flat so its easy to get under our couch and coffee table for those days when we are feeling lazy.
Suction- the motor is amazing, cant believe it is so great for such a small machine, nothing like it in its size that i know of.
Brush- you can turn the brush on and off which is handy. the brush also has a cluth mechanism that prevents objects (towels, carpets, my wife sews and has fabric lying around) to get tangled up in the brush. if you do suck it up you can just pull it right out without have to deal with a giant mess just to untangle something you accidentally ran over.
Cost of maintenance- inexpensive to maintain, $2 a bag (that last), and the bursh, motor, and two filters are also pretty cheap.
Con:
Price- it is expensive, but we spent less total on this vac then the other 5 combined. its a better deal and it seems like it will last a very long time. but the inital cost did give me some sticker shock.
Weight- while it is small and light it is not light enough for above ground vacuuming, like on a ladder to get high up in the corners. this dosnt effect me much but it would be an issue for some people
Cost- again i cant stress how much this was a problem for me initially but now i cant even imagine not having it.
we went with this vac and are so happy with it. please go try it out somewere, its worth the time spent and it blows all the other stuff we tried out the water. any questions just ask.

E series HEPA E2 Rainbow Canister Bagless Pet Vacuum Cleaner LOADED w. tools & Warranty Review

E series HEPA E2 Rainbow Canister Bagless Pet Vacuum Cleaner LOADED w. tools and Warranty
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
-When you use a conventional vacuum cleaner, you see dust blown all over especially if you look with the sun rays streaming through your window. You see a much big difference using this vac. One of our sons have bad allergies and this helps a lot.
-You not only see the difference, you also feel that you are breathing much cleaner air.
-No expensive bags to buy
Cons:
-It is heavy as a bulldozer. Imagine hauling it up and down the stairs. This is the reason we use this vac not as often as our other regular vac. My wife has to call me to help tugging it along.
-Price - too much! We got it half price, but probably we still paid too much.
-Maneuverability. Annoying and it really needs some muscle to work with it.
-You also need to clean the vacuum every single time you use it. No, you cannot wait until the bag is full - there is no bag. It has a canister that you fill halfway with water and if you do not clean after each use, it grows bacteria and smells like a dead skunk. Believe me, we have done that.
-It is a hassle to use. Need assembly every time you use it.
-So loud

Oreck Signature® Plus II Upright Vacuum Review

Oreck Signatureandreg; Plus II Upright Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My review is for the Oreck XL Pro Plus II from Costco. According to "best vacuum reviews dotcom", Costco's XL Pro Plus II model is identical to Target's Signature Plus II, and Oreck Direct's Element and XL Classic.
I furiously researched my first vac 15 years ago, a Sharp 12TW series upright that was library quiet and did a great job in a very basic package. It needed only a few minor do-it-yourself repairs over the years (parts off the internet), and in general my only complaints were the short cord and short hose. The motor finally quit and I figured it was time for a new unit. I'm wishing now I had a little more than my BlackBerry to research this purchase in the aisles of Costco, although, to be fair, the Costco.com user reviews are mostly stellar for this vacuum.
Let's talk about the good points:
+ The Oreck was extremely easy to assemble out of the box. Remove two screws and a plastic pull-tab, insert the handle, and re-install the two screws. Ready to go.
+ This vacuum is indeed lightweight. Oreck's comparison is their vac to a gallon of milk, versus their competitor to a tire off of a small car.
+ The cord is both long, and heavy duty. I noticed on my Sharp's too-short cord that it would become extremely supple after just a few minutes of use, most likely due to the gauge of wire they chose to use heating up as the current flowed. This is definitely a more suitable cord, especially for the long length.
+ Very maneuverable in that the vacuum head is narrow, so it easily goes between chair legs and around coffee tables, and gets farther under some low furniture because of its low height.
+ Unencumbered by attachments and dangling hoses. Very purpose-built, a machine for vacuuming carpets.
+ Super heavy-duty filtered bags. These things look like fluffy hand towels all folded up. Purportedly dust trapping, hypoallergenic. Not that I've ever had a complaint about my Sharp's paper-style bags.
+ Simple fabric bag bag. Er, that is to say, no overly complicated fancy-looking plastic body; no unnecessary parts to break. Just a fabric bag and a zipper. Simple.
That's all well and good, but now for the not-so-good points:
- Despite its light weight, I find it unnecessarily difficult to push around. The old Sharp has fairly conventional 2 or 2½ inch rear wheels and little tiny roller wheels under the brush, and rolls quite smoothly. This Oreck has tiny roller wheels all around, and is -- I don't want to overstate this -- a bit of a chore to push around on our very low-cut berber carpet. Maybe because the carpet isn't tacked down so well everywhere and is actually being sucked into this machine's brush? Maybe... or maybe just because of its teeny-tiny wheels! Whatever the cause, it's not as free-wheeling as its light weight might predispose.
- The edge suction is truly abysmal. The machine has two small edge brushes astride the roller, and these bristly protrusions to indeed grab tufts of pet hair if contacted. But half the time they deposit that tuft right back on the carpet a few feet later. For a vacuum with this much claimed suction, concentrated under such a small head, I'm baffled that this is a problem.
- It's noisy. It's not whiny loud like a $79 vacuum, or even like a commercial vac or Shop Vac, but compared to the "library quiet" Sharp it's replacing, the Oreck is noticeably louder.
- Worthless headlight. Honestly, why even bother with these? It's not like I stick the vac under the couch, then get down on my hands and knees to look underneath and see what it "sees."
- Narrow head. I know I listed this in the "plus" list, but it also means more back-and-forth strokes to get the same amount of carpet clean.
- No tools means no hose. My wife and I were both OK with no onboard tools or wand, but after using it she mentioned she misses being able to disconnect the hose and quickly dab at something or other with just the free hose end. The way this cleaner works is the suction goes right up the handle into the bag, so there is no hose to detach. You want that, you've got to break out their handheld unit.
- Awkward maneuvering from room to room. Missing those bigger wheels right at the rear of the machine, I guess this machine isn't intended to be wheeled around like a hand cart when just moving it around the house, as is the case with every other vacuum I've used. Not a deal breaker in and of itself -- due to its light weight -- but just one more tick on the "dislike" list.
I think, out of all the "cons" I've listed, the one most serious deal breaker is the poor edge suction. I'm pretty sure I could overlook everything else, even the lack of a hose. My old Sharp wasn't great on edges, either, but at least I had the option of pulling off the hose and sliding on the carpet brush for that type of detail work. If I end up keeping this Oreck, it'll be a two-pass job where I have to double back with the included handheld unit.
Update 4/16: After writing this review and the wife and I independently using and deciding we didn't like this vac, I decided to give it another go, rationalizing "it couldn't be *that* bad." I finished cutting one of the dogs, and true to form, he ran inside the house and shook just inside the front door. I got the Oreck out and vacuumed this fur-covered area first, generally satisfied with the results, then the living room and then one of the bedrooms, still noting my displeasure with the lack of edge suction. When I completed, I walked around and noticed the vacuum dropped random tufts of fur here and there. My suspicion is this is being caught up by the edge bristles, but never makes it into the machine, instead falling off at random places. Really unacceptable. I reluctantly boxed the Oreck up and returned it to Costco the following day -- reluctant because I really wanted this comparatively simple US-made product to work for my needs.

Pentair GW9500 Kreepy Krauly Great White Automatic Pool Cleaner for In-Ground Pools, Grey/Black Review

Pentair GW9500 Kreepy Krauly Great White Automatic Pool Cleaner for In-Ground Pools, Grey/Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this after my Hayward Navigator died, mainly because it cost half as much and it was the least expensive in-ground cleaner that people seem to be happy with from what I can see on the Internet. After using it I found that it is really a great cleaner. It seems to be especially resistant to jamming compared to the Navigator, which would get small pebbles or twigs caught in it's turbine.
It comes with some nice translucent hose sections which seem more flexible than what I get a the pool store. It also has an adapter for a dedicated cleaner port (if you have one) a telepole attachment so that it can be used manually and a flow gauge.
It does clean the shallow end of my pool and seems especially good at scrubbing the walls. It does occasionally get stuck on the pool light (of all places)
The manual does not say that it is not designed to clean the shallow end. It does say that it will spend most of it's time is the deep end, but that is normal for non-robotic cleaners.
I wouldn't trade it for a new Navigator even though they cost twice as much.

I love this vacuum. I just got it yesterday and I put it together and had it going within minutes. I vacuumed my whole house (2500 square feet) in 15 minutes. It's lightweight and the suction is awesome. I also used it on my furniture to get pet hair and it worked awesome. I am a cleaning lady and I can't wait to use it on Monday at my first client's house!
The 50 foot cord is great because you just plug into the middle of your house and you never have to unplug, just keep going until it's done. It even works on plush carpet as it's a hard plastic, it just runs over it sucking all the dirt up!
Downside: it doesn't have a horsetail brush for wood floors as to not scratch them. Looking for one of those right now!

I love my Pro Team Sierra. I have allergies. To be able to vacuum and not have dust particles or dust odor from the vacuum is wonderful. It has great suction. My floors haven't been this clean in years. I have an old house with wood floors. Crud falls into the crevasses. My old vacuum would not create enough suction to get the crud out. My Sierra does. The portability is great too. With a 2-story house, it is wonderful to put it on my back and take it with me, up stairs and down. No more bumping and dragging the hose behind.

We needed something that would work well on a solid wood floor and still transition to carpet. This is a great vacuum & worth the cost!! It is lightweight and very easy to use. It turns so easily and does not get caught on furniture. The attachments allow a person to clean anything--it has worked very well on upholstery also. The way the attachments are completely contained & close at hand is a big plus.Even though it is not a heavy appliance, the suction is better than a heavier vacuum I own. It is very flexible & can go around and get under furniture, cabinets etc. that are low to the ground. It also makes sweeping stairways a breeze! I love the fact that it glides smoothly and does not scratch the flooring the way a heavier vacuum could. Because it is so light and easy to use, my 11 year old now can sweep and even enjoys it!! I do not think anyone would be disappointed with purchasing this vacuum.

ProTeam Super Coach Backpack Vacuum Review

ProTeam Super Coach Backpack Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first used the Super Coach vacuum a few years ago when I started working as a custodian. I'd never seen a vacuum backpack before, but the day after I used it, I went ahead and ordered my own. I've never had any desire to use a standard vacuum again, and actually get disappointed when a Super Coach isn't around. This thing is a modern marvel, and while the price might scare some away, it'll pay for itself several times over within the first year alone. The Super Coach is sturdy, easy to use, and much quieter than any regular upright vacuum I've used. I'm wondering why more companies don't have these around, as this is the standard for vacuums as far as I'm concerned. It's maneuverable, lightweight (to me at least) and has succeeded where other vacuums have failed.
The Super Coach is so easy to use, it's almost questionable. You simply slide your arms through the adjustable shoulder straps, fasten the adjustable waist band as well if you need it, make sure the extension cord is properly plugged in, have the tube attachment on the hose, flick the power switch, and you're ready to go! The power cord which the extension cord plugs into is easily accessible- located on the left, right next to the on/off switch. You get two metal tubes to connect to the hose that comes out of the top of the vacuum, and several different heads for different tasks, like the regular wide one, one for narrow passages, a shorter wide attachment with long bristles, and more. Most people will be using the standard attachment, as it's the one that you'll be using around the home most of the time. It works perfectly on all different kinds of carpet and hard floors, and never scratches anything. I've used it on different kinds of linoleum, tile, marble, rubber floors and more, and can assure you that it doesn't leave a mark.
The bags that this thing uses are extremely strong, and can be used several times before being thrown out. The longest I went without changing the bag was 2 months, and even then I'm sure it could've lasted another couple of weeks. Even after sucking up gravel, tacks, and broken porcelain, the bags were never punctured. When it's time to change the bag, you simply twist the purple lid on the vacuum off, and pull the bag out of the filter. There's no hassle. Again, the design of this vacuum is so basic that you're going to wonder if there isn't something you're missing while using it. If something gets stuck in the tube, simply pull it out of the lid and see what happened- most of the time, whatever's stuck will be at the end of the tube that goes into the lid.
The only thing to watch out for is when ordering this vacuum, make sure it comes with all the appropriate attachments and an extension cord, as that's how it's supposed to be sold. I've seen some sellers just list the vacuum unit, so make sure you know what you're getting and ask questions before you order! Also, people on the shorter side (around the 5' mark) might have trouble using it since it's so tall. 'just something to think about, but that's where the waist strap would probably come in handy.
Recently, the Super Coach's price has been cut in half, and that's great, as it should get more people interested in buying the product. This thing is great to have around, and I've still yet to use a more maneuverable, reliable vacuum.

iRobot 500 Series Roomba Vacuum-Cleaning Robot with On-Board Scheduling Review

iRobot 500 Series Roomba Vacuum-Cleaning Robot with On-Board Scheduling
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First let me say that I agree with people who say that the robot does a competent job of cleaning. You should SEE the dust bin after vacuuming! I am also in awe etc etc, but I'm going to try to focus on things that others have not mentioned.
My 550 (560 actually, I think...it came with a few more odds and ends in the box) is actually my second Roomba. The first was the Discovery SE, one of the 400 series. The 400 was pretty good with two exceptions: 1) It would not work on rug fringe. It gets hopelessly tangled in less time that it takes to say "Wait!" The second problem with the older 400 series is that the battery dies fairly quickly if you do not use it VERY frequently. I use it once/week and by second battery is showing its age.
In any case, the 500 series is advertised to be able to deal with rug fringe, and indeed it does so reasonably well. It is also supposed to be able to do 4 rooms using these "lighthouses" that have been previously mentioned. To summarize, these are little gadgets that put out an IR (UV?) beam that the robot can see; it generally will not cross the beam, so you can use the beam to mark off rooms. After a certain amount of time, the robot sends out an RF signal to the lighthouse, and the LH lets it through into the next room. Repeat for 4 rooms if desired. Then the robot knows how to find its way back to where it started to plug itself back in to recharge. Cool.
Here are the problems with the lighthouse scheme: First, the beam gets wider very quickly. So there is a fan-shaped area in front of each lighthouse that never gets cleaned. In other words, when moving between the two rooms, the beam gets shut off but when cleaning either side, the robot will not enter the fan shaped area that the beam covers.
The second lighthouse problem is that the robot seems to use time rather than room size or complexity to decide when to move from one room to the other. In other words, for larger or more complex rooms, it simply does not cover the room before moving on to the next.
A non-lighthouse problem that you should know about with the 500 series is that I think they must be lower-slung than the 400 series. My 500 robot is not NEARLY as good is climbing up onto a rung as the 400. The 400 got stuck in fringe, but without fringe, it is nearly flawless. The 500 tends to push the rug around, bunch it up, and even get caught if it bunches up the rug in a corner that it has not way to get out of without getting back over the rug.
You MUST be sure there are no cords on the floor. For example, a floor lamp, a computer power cord, etc. My robot has gotten caught when I forget, and nearly pulled down a few items with dangling cords.
And finally, I have one room with hardwood floor and a rug about 6 or 8 inches smaller than one dimension of the room. So there is a 6+ inch "valley" between the rug and the wall. The 500 series does not clean the 6+ inch valley well at all. It goes along it, but does not pick up dirt well. I think it is probably that the brush is on the rug on one side and on the floor on the other, but is touching nothing in the middle. I end up taking a dry mop and going along the valley and pulling dirt out into an open area where the robot can get it.
Given all that, though, the robot saves a LOT of work. If there is something special happening, I would probably bring out the hand vac and get all the little corners and fans and valleys that the Roomba does not reach, but for every-day/week vacuuming, it is way easier than doing it by hand despite its problems.
==========================
Update 3/24/2009: I've had two problems, both fixed/replaced under warranty. First, it refused to dock. It would nose up to the dock and keep pushing and pushing; then finally back up and try again. Repeat forever. Used email support (I think). After doing a bunch of tests that they requested, they sent me a new dock. All ok now.
Second, the robot started spinning in circles. Even if I used the remote to try to make it go straight, it would turn. Sounds like a drive motor on one wheel died or something. In any case, I think I phoned this time. After a bunch of tests, they had me return the robot (minus dust bin and top insert) and they replaced it.
Now it works well, and guess what? The new robot can get up on rugs much better than the old one. I don't know if there was a hardware or software change, or if my old one was defective in some subtle way that I did not know about. I guess I might give this new unit an extra star if I could.
Interestingly, my 400-series also had to be replaced once, but it has worked fine ever since. I hope that will be the case with this one as well.

With its enhanced design, including improved navigation, coverage, pickup, and filtration, this vacuum-cleaning robot makes it easier then ever to clean floors throughout the house--hands free. Simply press the "clean" button and the unit will vacuum the whole floor on its own, adjusting automatically to any floor surface including wood, tile, linoleum, rugs, and carpet. The vacuum's dual, high-speed, counter-rotating brushes pick up everything from tracked-in dirt by the front door to food crumbs on the kitchen floor to pet hair throughout the house. It also provides anti-tangle technology with auto reverse, innovative spinning side brushes to ensure thorough cleaning in corners and along baseboards, and a gentle-touch bumper that senses obstacles so that it can slow down and carefully clean around them. The unit's dirt sensor will direct the cleaning time and focus where it's needed most, and its low-profile design means easy cleaning under beds, couches, and other hard-to-reach areas. Another thoughtful detail includes its ability to schedule preset cleaning times--great for coming home to a clean house after a long day at the office. Even more, the cleaner comes with built-in cliff sensors that prevent it from falling down stairs and a Virtual Wall system, which allows for setting up invisible barriers that confine the unit to a designated area. The vacuum's large dustbin empties easily, and its improved filtration system traps dust, pollen, and other allergens, helping to ensure only clean air gets released back into the room. For added convenience, the vacuuming robot automatically returns to its self-charging Home Base to dock and recharge between cleaning cycles or when the battery starts to run low. Accessories include a bumper extension, a brush cleaning tool, a power adapter, a rechargeable battery, three extra filters, two Virtual Wall Lighthouses, and four "C" batteries for the Virtual Walls. The vacuum-cleaning robot measures approximately 13 by 13 by 4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

I saw a cleaning service use this vacuum and decided to purchase one for our home. It does a good job on dog hair and signficantly reduces the time it takes to vacuum. I'm surprised the manufacturer doesn't sell to the residential market. I think many more people would be interested in a backpack vacuum. It's great.

Love the allergy filtration system, but for the price, it has two design flaws. The on/off switch is located in a position for ease to turn on and off, but it also is in a position that makes it easy to accidentally cut off during use. This is very inconvenient. Also, the hose is very stiff and inflexible. During use, it folds back on itself and you have to keep straightening it out. Also, after only 3 months, the hose actually cracked open. Was disappointed in the hose for the price of this item. Would not recommend this product, until the design flaws are fixed.

Kirby Ultimate G Vacuum Cleaner with tools & shampooer warranty Review

I don't even know where to start...Nearly three years after I came home from work and found out that I was the not-so-proud owner of a $2000 vacuum I'm still looking for reasons to justify my wife's purchase.
It is a top quality vacuum cleaner, though. I still look at it sometimes and think "Wow. That's a well-made piece of machinery." Reflecting on the quality is very soothing. It's all aluminum with a few high quality plastic parts. It's more durable and better performing than any vacuum used by professional house cleaners--and my wife actually is a professional ouse cleaner. But it's way to heavy and too expensive for any company to consider equipping there workers with.
It's like another one of my professsional grade power tools--and heavier than most of them. But this is not a problem for a small woman who only has to roll it around the house without repeatedly lifting it up, especially since it has a built in propulsion system to do the pushing and pulling for you. It feels sturdy and substantial, and the shampooer attachment works great.
My wife shampoos the carpets with it and wow what a difference. We have toddlers and dogs, and our carpets take a beating. I'm not familiar with all the attachemnts, but it looks like quite a project when my wife does the shampooing. The results are undeniable, though.
It's also great for restoring stinky smoker's matresses...Our friend gave us a free queen sized pillowtop that was hardly used, but it smelled like cigarettes and stunk up the rear half of the house. I memoved the odor by covering the mattress with a layer of carpet fresh and letting it stand for a day or two with the bedroom door shut.workied great

Perfect Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Perfect Canister Vacuum Cleaner

The perfect vacuum is a chinese knock-off of an electrolux machine made 15 years ago. The machine is not worth $100.00. It is cheaply made, prone to failure and being marketed as a high end machine. Don't be fooled by the suggested list price and its appearance. It is being made and imported from china by Nationwide onn Long Island. The hose, power nozzle, and machine are subject to a high degree of failure. If you want to purchase a good machine, buy an Aerus/electrolux vacuum. The Perfect vacuum is imperfect and the people who manufacture, distribute and sell this machine are doing a diservice to every consumer looking for quality.

This retro style Perfect canister is the same old style you grew up with. The all metal housings are made for years and years of use and abuse. The motor on this vacuum pulls an amazing 125" of water lift, giving it the same suction as many central vacuum units. There are not many vacuums on the market today, with the suction power of the Perfect canister. The wide 15" power nozzle will eat pet hair for breakfast! It also comes with an electronic circuit breaker, that will prevent many belts from breaking. If something is vacuumed up in to the power head such as tassles on oriental rugs, or shoe laces, or even a sock under neath the bed, the power head will automatically turn off, to prevent the belt from breaking. Accessories included are; * Complete set of tools with on-board storage: * Soft horse hair combination dusting/upholstery tool. * Air-driven stair tool. * 14-inch crevice tool. * 12-inch wide soft horse hair bare floor tool. This machine also now comes with the new HEPA filtration style bag, which will stop more dust then the standard paper bags that usually come with this machine. 2 Year Parts and Labor Warranty.
