(More customer reviews)Purchased this cordless pond vac the summer of 2010, but really didn't use it until this week. I had great hope this thing would help me clean up mostly winter wet leaves from the bottom of my two ponds. One pond is 6ft-x-6ft-x-13 inches deep with some goldfish; and the other is a 5,000 gallons water garden with plants and some fish, it is about 18" to 30" deep. While the pond vac design was a promising idea, it is a total functional failure. It cannot even pick up wet leaves, or much of anything for that matter. I spent an entire battery charge, about 35 minutes, and sucked up less than a cup of mulched debris. If there are any small pebbles or twigs in your pond, the vacuum will frequently pull them in and cause the blades to jam, and stop the vac. So you have to work on the unit to clear the blockage. But you also have to frequently clear blockages from the wet leaves. The unit is heavy and awkward to maneuver even with the handles and straps. The filter bag frequently unties itself since it attaches by a pullstring and wooden knob which loosen and dump the bag in the pond. The vacuums handles telescope but the lower section cannot be secured no matter how tight the lock knob is turned. So one is fighting to keep the vacuum end in alignment with the handle and power switch; what a joke. And the telescoping handles are lubricated so grease gets on your hands when one tries to adjust the length and lock the knobs. Keep rag handy to wipe the grease from your hands or wear disposable gloves.
I own several Laguna pumps and lighting products that are good quality and perform fine. Unfortunately, I am out about $250!, because this pond vac is going in the tool junk garage. I wouldn't even sell it at a yard sale. So forget about it; clearly, I cannot recommend this cordless pond vac.

May you kindly be of assistance to advice something less arm-working? =) Maybe a fully automatic one, like this thing here, Mini Jet Vac Vacuum Cleaner-sort-of.
